National Manischewitz Cooking Competition

Creative Cook & Artist

Creativity is my jam - so art and cooking are my two favorite things to do.

I am affectionately referred to as ‘Morah Debbie’ because I help others find meaningful ways to feel included and inspired to live Jewishly. I believe that learning how to make Matzo Ball Soup is a great way to start.

Being chosen to participate in the National Manischewitz cooking competition is one of the highlights of my life. While I didn’t win first place, the experience of spending four days in NYC with all the important women in my life was the true prize. I’ve included my ‘Mani Meatloves’ recipe in the recipe section!

Lover of Dogs & Children

There is a holiness about children and animals. Kids are my fave because they not only make me laugh, but they keep me ‘in the moment’ - the best place to live one’s life. I love dogs too - especially pugs. I’ve been a ‘pug mom’ since 2001 when I rescued my first pug Sophie Irving (she looked like an old Jewish man). Now I have Libby Lou who is incredible with children and brings me so much joy. She also loves to take walks which is good for both of us!

Connector, Communicator & Teacher

I love connecting with people - adults and children. I’ve spent the majority of my professional life in early childhood education - both as a teacher and administrator. I am passionate about helping adults and children bring balance, connection, play and serenity to their lives.

As an educator, I’ve developed tools and methods to help others connect both with themselves and to others. The Jewcy Haggadah is my way to help you connect to Judaism and all the special people around your Seder table.
